When is Strictly Come Dancing 2017 on TV?

The latest episode of the 2017 Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday October 28 at 6.35pm, and the traditional Halloween special will be on.

Strictly always airs in two parts. The main show is on Saturday and the results show airs on Sunday at a similar time.

There will be a Christmas special again in 2017, with the celebrity participants expected to be announced in early November.

Who is hosting Strictly this year?

Dream team duo Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will be continuing their three-year reign as queens of the dance floor.

The pair took over from the late Bruce Forsyth in 2014, as the presenter became increasingly dogged with health issues – he passed away on August 18.

Who’s on the judging panel and who has replaced Len Goodman?

The Sun revealed that Shirley Ballas replaced Len as head judge back in May.

Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood and Darcey Bussell are all sticking around for another year.

Dubbed The Queen of Latin, Shirley stunned producers during screen tests and landed the job ahead of show favourites.

The 56-year-old was the only candidate to receive a second screen test during the search.

Are there any new professional dancers?

The Sun’s Bizarre column revealed that three stunning new pro dancers would be joining the Strictly line-up for the new series.

Dianne Buswell, 28, from Australia, Nadiya Bychkova, 28, from Ukraine and Amy Dowden, 26, from Wales will all be paired up with male hopefuls in the autumn.

They replace 2016 winner Joanne Clifton, who won it with BBC presenter Ore Oduba, as well as Oksana Platero and Natalie Lowe – who had previously announced she was not returning.

Which celebrities are still in the Strictly line-up?

  • Gemma Atkinson is known for appearing on Emmerdale and Hollyoaks, but now she is swapping soaps for Strictly.
  • Ruth Langsford is the latest ITV presenter to sign up and will be foxtrotting her way on to this year’s show.
  • Davood Ghadami is this year’s EastEnders actor going on to the show, and producers have him lined up to be this year’s heartthrob.
  • Mollie King from The Saturdays is the second band member to compete on the show after Frankie Bridge finished runner-up in 2014.
  • Joe McFadden plays Raffaello di Lucca on Holby City – the TV doctor will be hoping to execute his moves with surgical precision when he gets stuck in to Strictly.
  • Aston Merrygold’s involvement in the show was revealed exclusively by The Sun – this is despite the JLS star having years of dancing experience.
  • Simon Rimmer, one half of the Sunday Brunch presenting duo with Tim Lovejoy, was announced as one of the celebs live on the popular Channel 4 show.
  • Susan Calman is a Scottish comedian and Radio 4 favourite who’s also appeared on QI, Have I Got News For You and Mock The Week.
  • Debbie McGee is a TV personality and best known for being the magician’s assistant of her late husband Paul Daniels.
  • Jonnie Peacock is a Paralympic gold medallist, who was appointed MBE in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to athletics and becomes the first disabled celebrity to grace the show.
  • Alexandra Burke, who won The X Factor in 2008, knows what it’s like to win big on a reality TV series, but this time she’ll be competing with her feet rather than her voice.

Who has been voted off Strictly Come Dancing 2017 so far?

  • Chizzy Akudolu is an actress, comedian and TV star, best-known for her role as Mo Effanga in hospital-set soap Holby City.
  • Rev Richard Coles is a priest and former 80s pop star who had three Top 10 hits with the Communard.
  • Charlotte Hawkins is one of the presenters of Good Morning Britain who reads news headlines alongside former Strictly contestants Susanna Reid and Kate Garraway.
  • Brian Conley is a panto favourite and TV funnyman who was removed from I’m A Celeb in 2012 after he failed to take his anti-depressants.
