SCARLETT Moffatt cried with happiness as she showed off her new teeth after a crash when she was a child left her with a “black smile”.
She previously had temporary veneers before having her smile permanently fixed.
Scarlett recently opened up about fixing her smile – 15 years after an accident aged 11 left her teeth black, leading to playground jibes.
Taking to Instagram she showed off her new pearly whites in a clip which she captioned: “First time in 16 years I can confidently smile, thank you so much to Dr Ilaty at @thewelbeckclinic for changing my life.
“For calming me when I felt anxious as I hate the dentist & for making me want to smile again. #smile #love”
In the emotional video, she said: “So as you can see I’ve been crying, this is my 11th time doing this video so hopefully this time I won’t start crying.
“As some of you know when I was 11 I lost my front two teeth and the nerve went in the right tooth which was black for most of my teenage years until I was 21.
“I’ve never felt confident to smile, even when I got my crowns when I was 21 for my birthday, I still put my hand over my mouth.
“Thanks so much to Dr Illaty because for the first time in 16 years I can smile and be confident. I’m going to be grinning like a Cheshire cat everywhere.”
Scarlett’s new expensive dental treatment involves permanent tooth caps, giving the former I’m A Celeb winner a bright white, and straighter-looking, set of teeth.
They replaced the temporary caps she had fitted back when she was a schoolgirl, four years after a nasty road accident.
Young Scarlett had smashed her teeth when she tumbled off her bike after being knocked by a car.
Scarlett explained: “The nerves had gone, so I had black teeth at the front….
“So I had black teeth as well as a monobrow, and I was a little bit chubby, and then half my face was on the slide.”
The youngster, who also developed Bell’s Palsy, had to have dental caps fitted – but says she emerged from her awkward childhood phase when her mum allowed her to wax her eyebrows.
The Geordie had already let her fans know about the new-look teeth online, writing: “I’m gonna cry finally in a month after 11 years after my accident I’ll have new teeth.”
Previously the presenter – whose middle name is Sigourney after Alien star Sigourney Weaver – spoke about how her unique personality developed as she overcame the bullies who picked on her appearance.
She said: “Being bullied made me realise that people will like you or not like you anyway, so you might as well be yourself and say exactly what you think.”
