It's a snip!

Now you can buy a lobster for just £2.99 at Lidl

GOOD news foodies – you can now buy a whole cooked lobster for under £3 at Lidl.

The cut-price crustaceans can be snapped up from the budget supermarket until March 20, but there is a slight catch - shoppers will need to collect a 40 per cent off voucher before they can get their claws on one.

The 'sustainable deluxe whole cooked lobster' was already considered a snip at £4.99 - but the German supermarket chain's spring promotion means it is now even cheaper.

Shoppers who wish to take advantage of the offer will need to flick through the store's Easter brochure for the vouchers, but the bad news is they won't be allowed to stockpile lobsters - the offer is limited to just one voucher per transaction.

Lidl say that the lobsters, from New Brunswick, Canada, are sustainably fished and come with an MSC certificate.

The lobsters are cooked and frozen locally before being shipped over to Lidl shelves in the UK.

Lidl's lobster was previously tested by Chef Aldo Zilli back in November 2014, and the celebrity chef was left impressed.

At the time, Aldo told the MailOnline: “This lobster is crammed with meat and it’s deliciously sweet.”

Best get down to Lidl sharpish.
